| Devon and Marty at graduation
|
A story about Marty Krasch submitted by Devon Burton.
April, 2005
Marty & I became friends while working at Ronardo¹s, a little Italian restaurant in town. I remember him always being with Steve Kephart and Bob Jaffe. They were inseparable. The three of them made work fun.
Marty was a genuine, kind, and real person. Sometimes I would give him a ride home from work in my blue VW. I remember how we would often sit in my car for hours, talking and listening to The Honeydrippers. Marty was always so open and willing to talk about his thoughts and feelings. It was refreshing.
On graduation day, neither Marty nor I had chosen to walk with anyone, and we were randomly paired together. We were both so happy to be together to wrap-up high school. After graduating, I remember a few phone calls, and a letter or two going back and forth before we eventually lost touch.
I was so sad when I heard years ago that Marty had taken his life. It makes me sad to this day. He was a special person and I will always miss him and the sweet smile on his face.

This is a short note of remembrance for Raymond Webber submitted by Bill Toothman.
Ray was one of my best friends while I was in Big Bear. We fished together, stayed at each other's houses, and did everything together.
Ray, Craig Gotcher, and I bowled in the charity tournaments every year. (Ray was better than both of us). Ray's biggest dream growing up was to join the Marines. He had a brother who was a Marine, and felt that was the thing he was born for. Ray was active in Devil Pups, a youth group for the Marines.
When we moved off the hill, I lost touch with Ray. He was murdered in the desert some years later. Bill Toothman
